Understanding the Art and Science of Psychotherapy
Becoming Aware in the Journey to A Better Self
Psychotherapy offers a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Through meaningful conversations, it can help you navigate life's challenges, manage stress, and improve emotional well-being. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or simply seeking personal growth, psychotherapy can be a valuable tool in fostering a healthier, more fulfilling life.
I offer trauma informed therapy based on body oriented strategies to help you finally be able to manage your trauma in order to move forward in your life. Polyvagal Theory which is a way to connect your brain to your body so that you can regulate your central nervous system and learn to be aware of how you are feeling in every moment. Dialectical Behavior Therapy addresses mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, all key elements in balancing your inner life with your external life.
While working with couples I use the Developmental Model approach to relational therapy which includes the neuroscience of change, differentiation within the relationship, and healthy connection through exploration of understanding and empathy. As in Polyvagal Theory, as you progress in therapy, you are rewiring your brain to respond differently and more effectively on your own behalf. Attachment Theory plays a big role in couples work as we take our coping mechanisms from early life and bring them to our adult lives, not realizing that they are no longer required.
In my work with you I will be implementing various principles from different approaches to therapy that match what your needs are, and I will be transparent in sharing these tools so that you are well equipped to build a better and more effective you, in all areas of your life.
